Entorno 3D para el análisis y la recreación virtual de las actuaciones arqueológicas en Cueva de la Cocina (Dos Aguas, Valencia, España)

Abstract: Abstract:In this paper we present our procedure for digitising fieldwork information on the fly (data management), and its combination with the virtual reconstruction of the stratigraphy (virtualisation), of the Cueva de la Cocina site in Dos Aguas (Valencia, Spain). The main tool for the Geographic Information System (GIS) implementation has been OpenJUMP, whilst for the three-dimensional (3D) recreation of the cave virtual environment MeshLab, ParaView, CloudCompare and R open software have been used. “…Starting with the methodological, the first problem is that the bulk of the two collections belongs to old excavations, where the resolution, both chronological and stratigraphic, was not as high as desired. To address this problem, we relied on the work done in the last few years at Cueva de la Cocina, aided by three-dimensional reconstruction (Diez-Castillo et al 2017), which has allowed us to form high resolution phases on the basis of Bayesian inference (García-Puchol et al 2018a). Because this work has only been deployed so far on Cocina's 1941, and 1945 EI excavations, we have only used the material from these two surveys.…”

“…The results obtained helped us to offer a new reevaluation of the previous and currently preserved archaeological deposits. The methodology applied included refined spatial registering and digital orthophotographic methods within in a rigorous protocol for recovering fieldwork data (Diez Castillo et al, 2017;García Puchol et al, 2018b).…”

“…Since then, Cocina Cave has been a key site to understand the evolutionary history of the last hunter-gatherers in Mediterranean Iberia, and the appearance and development of farming and pastoral practices. Archaeological studies consisted of Pericot's excavation (1941Pericot's excavation ( -1945 (Pericot 1945), Fortea's investigation (1974-1981 (Fortea et al 1987), and the recent campaigns (2015)(2016)(2017)(2018) by Garcı ´a-Puchol, McClure and Juan Cabanilles (Garcı ´a-Puchol et al 2015;2018b;Diez-Castillo et al 2017;Pardo-Gord ó et al 2018;Cortell-Nicolau et al 2020).…”
