“…Existing white spruce volume models in Alaska are of limited applicability because of small sample size or limited sample geographic coverage. The published cubic-foot volume models of Gregory and Haack (1964) were developed with 434 sample trees mostly from interior Alaska, and that of Larson and Winterberger (1988) was developed from 244 white spruce and 43 black spruce trees harvested from the Matanuska and Susitna Valleys. In addition, numerous unpublished volume models based on data sets from small and scattered geographic areas exist.…”
