“…Pahlavanzadeh et al using different algae biosorbents ( Cystoseria indica , Nizmuddinia zanardini , Sargassum glaucescens , and Padina australis ) indicate the spontaneous and endothermic nature of the adsorption of nickel(II) ions. Madala et al also indicate that adsorption of cadmium(II) ions onto ceramic coated by chitosan is spontaneous and endothermic.…”

“…The observed XRD patterns of pristine biosorbent exhibited three halloo (2u 5 12.28, 21.88, and 29.38) corresponding to amorphous nature, which could be attributed to the presence of some polysaccharides, proteins and fatty acids in the biomass [28]. On treated with Ni (II), the appearance of two new broad peaks at around 2u 5 20.458 and 14.058 having no perfect crystal diffraction implied the strong amorphous biosorbent characteristics, which was also found in other metal biosorbent interaction [29]. In addition, the small changes in peak position and increase in the X-ray intensity in Ni (II) loaded biomass indicated that the metal ions could be easily permeated on the amorphous biosorbent surface [30].…”

“…In addition, the entropy change suggested increase in randomness during sorbate-sorbent interactions, as the value was found to be positive. Meanwhile, the process favored complexation and stability of sorption [29,49].…”

“…Salicylic acid and Cd can enter into the aquatic environment through various sources such as the pharmaceutical industry, human and veterinary drugs, paper and cosmetic industries, mining, smelting, usage of phosphate fertilizers, use of activated sludge from wastewater treatment plant for agricultural purpose, and various industries like plating, pigments, plastics, and Ni‐Cd batteries. Cadmium and SA can enter the food chain through the contaminated soil or water …”
