“…Three formal meta‐analyses comparing bismuth quadruple therapy vs triple therapy, triple therapy including a quinolone vs quadruple therapies and 7 vs 14 days of quadruple therapies were performed (Figure and Supplementary file ). With regard to the comparison of triple vs quadruple therapies and quinolone‐containing triple therapies vs quadruple therapies, we did not record any advantages for triple therapy; these findings corroborated those of Li et al and Buzas et al, but not those of other previous meta‐analyses. The inclusion of studies in abstract form; studies mixing second‐, third‐, and fourth‐line therapies; and the inclusion of recent trials in our meta‐analysis may account for the differences observed.…”

“…These results are in agreement with those reported in another previously published meta‐analysis, which compared the efficacy of 12 different therapy regimens for H. pylori eradication, suggesting that the therapy with H 2 ‐receptor antagonists was less effective than the triple therapies with omeprazole or lansoprazole [38]. Finally, these findings were confirmed in a recent meta‐analysis of the articles presented at several international meetings [26].…”

“…As early as 1996, a meta‐analysis of the different treatment strategies, grouped into 13 treatment classes was performed [25]. The two dual combination therapies reviewed (omeprazole with amoxicillin or clarithromycin), together with the H 2 ‐receptor antagonists triple therapies, were less effective than triple therapies with omeprazole [25], and these results were confirmed in a recent meta‐analysis including the papers presented at several international meetings [26].…”
