Erratum: Photoproduction of neutral kaons on a liquid deuterium target in the threshold region [Phys. Rev. C78, 014001 (2008)]

Abstract: In the above-named study of the neutral kaon photoproduction, the cross sections given in Figs. 10 and 11 were wrong due to trivial mistakes, mainly in estimating the number of beam photons. The normalization factors for the cross sections are found to be larger by a factor of approximately 3.9 compared to the previous one, though it depends on the K 0 momentum. The corrected spectra are shown in Fig. 11 (numberings are the same as the original ones). As a result, the r K 1 Kγ value obtained by fitting the K 0… Show more

“…The PH and SLA calculation present backward enhancing distribution reflecting the low momentum peak P Lab K 0 ∼ 0.3 GeV/c. This tendency is the same as the result of the measurement with the NKS [8]. The contamination from γn → K 0 Σ 0 and γp → K 0 Σ + is not significant because of their higher threshold E γ = 1.051 GeV and E γ = 1.062 GeV, respectively.…”

“…After the successful measurement of inclusive K 0 photoproduction cross sections on the neutron with the Neutral Kaon Spectrometer (NKS) [7,8], we developed the Neutral Kaon Spectrometer 2 (NKS2) mainly for detection of Λ with improved acceptance in the forward angular region. We performed the inclusive measurements of K 0 and Λ using invariant masses of π + π − for K 0 identification and pπ − for Λ identification.…”

“…The NKS collaboration performed pioneering experiments studying the γ + d → K 0 + Λ + X [6] and γ+ 12 C → K 0 + Λ + X [7] reactions near the threshold energy for strangeness photoproduction. The threshold energy E γ is 0.914 GeV for the elementary γ + n → K 0 + Λ reaction assuming the free neutron target at rest.…”
