Error/Old: Redistribution with Regular Texture Food for Clinical Cases In-Home

Abstract: Research has shown effectiveness of a redistribution procedure for decreasing packing and increasing swallowing. Redistribution has been done using lower manipulated-texture foods on an infant gum brush in specialised United States hospitals. We extended this by using regular texture bites of food in a short-term (1-2 weeks) home-based programme in Australia, showing decreased then absent use of the procedure, and following up. Two children with autism spectrum disorder participated. We used a withdrawal/rever… Show more

“…Importantly, training to analyse single-case graphs should go beyond using a simple online tool and focus on how the interaction between different dimensions of the data (i.e., level, trend, variability, overlap, immediacy) influences analysis. This clinical case history report also adds to the literature by presenting a replication of Taylor's (2020, September 25) effective use of redistribution with regular bites of food and extend it by following up at 1-year postdischarge. To our knowledge, this redistribution procedure with regular texture food has only been presented once thus far.…”

“…Overall, strengthening research in the area of treatment acceptability for pediatric feeding procedures will serve to improve efforts to accurately disseminate our science to consumers, to other disciplines, and those responsible for policy change, particularly in international countries (Taylor & Taylor, 2021a, 2021b. Dissemination is also important within the field to behavior-analytic practitioners, to further communicate the acceptability and effectiveness of certain procedures.…”
