Establishment of a monoclonal antibody-based indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the detection of trimethoprim residues in milk, honey, and fish samples

Abstract: A specific monoclonal antibody (mAb) against trimethoprim (TMP) was produced and a mAb-based indirect competitive enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ic-ELISA) was established to detect TMP residues in milk, honey, and fish samples. The working range of ic-ELISA and IC 50 was 1.83-9.36 and 4.14 µg L −1 . The average recoveries of TMP from TMP-spiked milk, honey, and fish sample were 103.5-118.0%, 100.3-107.1%, and 91.5-108.1%, respectively. The results revealed that our developed mAb-based ic-ELISA can be effect… Show more

“…Therefore, the capsaicinoid content of the sample solution can be determined according to the intensity of the colour of the T-line. The higher the free capsaicinoid content in the sample, the lighter the T-line colour will be (Chen et al, 2016;Chen et al, 2017).…”

“…Another coating antigen was synthesized with GA as the cross-linker ( Figure 2 ) [ 27 , 28 ] and labeled “PMB-GA-OVA1.” Briefly, 14 mg of PMB and 48 µL of 2.5% GA were subsequently dissolved in 200 µL of ultrapure water. After mixing at room temperature for 2 h, the activated solution was added dropwise into 1 mL of a stirred solution of 5 mg of OVA in 0.01 M PBS (pH = 7.4) and stirred for 4 h at room temperature.…”

“…ASGs are usually used in combination with sulfonamides (SAs), which inhibit bacterial dihydrofolate synthetase, or other antimicrobials, including βlactams, and aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones (Chen et al, 2017). The potency of ASGs are enhanced 10× when administered with SAs (Chen, Liu, Song, Kuang, & Xu, 2016) and ASGs can also enhance the antibacterial activity of other antimicrobials. Thus, ASGs are widely administered in combination with SAs or other antibiotics for the therapy of animal diseases, including fowl cholera, respiratory tract secondary bacterial infection, and pullorum disease (Choi et al, 2012).…”
