Aim The aim of this in vivo study was to evaluate the surface texture, anatomical form, marginal integrity, marginal discoloration, and secondary caries of three different types of crowns in primary anterior teeth at different time intervals of 3, 6, and 9 months. Materials and methods Total 45 primary maxillary incisors were randomly selected and divided into three groups of 15 each: group I—strip crowns (Pedoform strip crowns, 3M, United States), group II—zirconia crown (kids-e-crown, India), and group III—luxa crown (DMG, Germany). All the full-coronal restorations were evaluated at 3, 6, and 9 months. The modified USPHS criteria were used to evaluate different parameters. Data were collected and the nonparametric test (Chi-square) was used to analyze the intergroup data. Results Statistically nonsignificant difference was observed for most of the parameters except marginal integrity and secondary caries. Resin strip crowns showed maximum cases with distorted marginal integrity and secondary caries. Conclusion Zirconia crown performed best among the three full-coronal restorations. Luxa crown performed similar to zirconia crown. It can be used as an alternative economical esthetic full-coronal restoration for primary maxillary anterior incisors. Clinical significance This study illustrates the advantage of the temporization material as a full-coronal restoration option in primary maxillary anterior teeth. Background. Esthetic appearance of primary anterior teeth is one of the major demands in the dental field. Destructed anterior primary teeth due to caries is considered a major issue due to the difficulty in regaining the esthetic crowns and attaching them until the normal exfoliation time. There have been many attempts and tools used to attach the composite crowns to the treated canals of primary anterior teeth. The study evaluates endodontic treatment for destructed primary maxillary incisors with a glass fiber-reinforced post as a retentive tool to hold the esthetic composite crowns until the normal exfoliation time of primary incisors. Case Presentation. A four-year-old child attending a dental clinic complained of pain of maxillary incisors. Dental examination showed irreversible pulpitis of four maxillary incisors indicated for root canal treatment and crown placement. Endodontic treatment was carried out, and a glass fiber-reinforced post was used to get successful retention for the composite crowns. Follow-up was carried out for 3 years. The 3 crowns were retained successfully until replaced by permanent incisors. One crown fell during the treatment course. Conclusion. Retention of primary teeth is one of the challenges in pediatric dentistry. Restoration of primary decayed incisors is important for child medical, physical, and psychological conditions. A glass fiber-reinforced post and core is a strong retentive tool for composite crown retention for primary incisors. This procedure opens the door for a strong tool to retain composite crowns for a long time. Managing teeth that are deciduous, deformed, decayed, or traumatized using tooth-colored restorations can be challenging, especially with young children who may have specific behavioral intervention issues. For deciduous teeth with developmental abnormalities, multi-surface caries, high-caries patients, broken teeth, teeth where direct restorations tend to fail, following pulpal treatment, as space maintainer abutments, and teeth with severe wear, extra-coronal full-coverage crowns are recommended to ensure effective treatment. In pediatric dentistry, several full coverage restoration techniques are available. The Bioflx crown is a new type of synthetic crown that offers improved adaptation, durability, ease of handling, and better aesthetics compared to conventional crowns. Bioflx crowns are becoming more popular and are a viable option for treating carious teeth in young children. This case report describes the first use of a Bioflx crown in managing a multi-surface caries lesion in an 8-year-old girl. There are no published case reports on the use of Bioflx crowns for primary molars; however, these crowns serve as a suitable alternative to full crown restoration.
