“…Among delphinid species, the bottlenose dolphin Tursiops truncatus and Pseudorca crassidens presented 13 C- and 15 N-enriched collagen reflecting their high trophic position in this tropical food web. Both species are considered mainly piscivorous, and as such, they exhibit high trophic levels within pelagic food webs 73 75 . Steno bredanensis is considered an offshore species in Southeastern Brazil 76 , although regularly sighted in shallow bays and other coastal areas 77 .…”

“…Short‐finned pilot whales off North Carolina exhibit different dive patterns with males performing the deeper dives than females, lending support to foraging niches between sexes in at least one population (Quick et al, 2017). Sex‐based prey differentiation was also preliminarily detected from a small sample of skin stable isotopes in false killer whales off Chile, indicating that females had higher trophic niches than males (Haro et al, 2019). The presence of foraging niches would further support the benefits of prey sharing seen in false killer whales (Baird, 2009).…”

“…For example, genetic data of some of the samples obtained through this collaboration have been included in two Master's theses focused on long-finned pilot whales and sei whales [58,59] and two peer-reviewed publications [13,26]. Stranding samples have also contributed in other study areas, for example, stable isotope analyses [60] and toxicological analyses of trace elements and harmful algal blooms [25,61]. In turn, the long-term application of these protocols and the studies that arise from this can produce data that inform and improve future tasks in the management and conservation of cetaceans in Chile.…”
