“…1 There are two legislations related to palliative care in Singapore -the Advanced Medical Directive (AMD) Act and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). The AMD is a legal document made by an adult who is not mentally disordered and who desires not to be subjected to 'extraordinary lifesustaining treatment' (defined as treatment that will only prolong the process of dying but excludes palliative care) when he/she is terminally ill.
