“…This study used test day records up to 2017 while the study of Werner (2014) included lactations records only up to 2011, other studies using Chilean dairy records (Pinedo and Meléndez 2010) are even older. Ponce (2009) and Romero et al (2018) suggested that in order to improve milk quality and continuing lowering SCC, more consistent farmer training and use of information technology is needed and they must reach the dairy sector, mainly small-scale producers. Also, the infrastructure of dairy companies must improve and new ways to industrialize dairy products, that are consumer safe, must be developed.…”

“…The basic physical–chemical parameters that many dairy plants receiving raw milk evaluate are the amount of water, fat, protein, pH, titratable acidity, presence of chlorides and neutralizers, and determination of total solids and non-fat solids [ 18 ]. However, these analyzes do not determine the presence of cheese whey in milk at the time it arrives at the plant.…”

“…However, regions such as the Province of Sucre does not have the same standards. Romero et al (2018) reported an average between 530.000 and 624.000 cel/mL. Only the 20.6% of the total raw milk samples tested were <400.000 cel/mL.…”
