Security threats have increased in recent years. To motivate the developers to stick to the security policies, the notion of usable security is investigated. Enhancing the usability of security services leads to developing software products that are resilient against security threats. In this paper, we investigate the role of usable security in developers' intention toward fulfilling the security considerations through the development process. To study this, we conducted empirical research on 25 experts in the field of software development. We proposed a model for analyzing the research outcome using statistical inference based on an extension of the theory of planned behavior. In particular, we posit that attitude toward the development of usable services, subjective norms, and moral obligation are determinants of intention to develop usable security services. We developed 11 security services that are used in the development of service-oriented software. We asked the experts to integrate the security services in the software and studied the integration process using a detailed questionnaire. The findings indicate a strong positive influence of all correlations, which describe developers' intentions to develop usable secure services to 52%. Our insights enhance the understanding of developers' intentions toward developing usable secure services and their fulfillment.

Qualitative studies have become increasingly common and have been used in different fields such as economics, politics, psychology, sociology and health research for different purposes. Instead of collecting numerical data, qualitative research’s goal is to gather information from participant’s experiences and perceptions. One of the tools to get data related to the participants’ experiences in qualitative research is through interviews. One tool that may be helpful for researchers today are digital and video platforms that fall under the domain of the internet-mediated research. The aim of this work is to identify and describe some ethical controversies when using videoconferencing platforms in qualitative health research for interview purposes. Four cases related to the use of digital platforms (videotelephony systems) to conduct interviews in qualitative research were discussed. Rather than give solutions, we reflect upon the possibility and plausibility of using these telecommunication technologies when using the technique of interviews in qualitative research. The ethical issues that may arise when using these technologies are related to privacy, confidentiality, accuracy of information and expertise when using the platforms. We think that the researcher is committed to making the best decisions in favor of the participant when using digital tools to gather information. In this regard, qualitative researchers may be benefited by the reflections we present insofar they may consider these possible scenarios that may rise ethical issues when collecting data. The activity of research needs to be escorted by constant ethical deliberations to protect participants’ rights during the collection of data phase.

This study aimed to examine the effects of user awareness on privacy protection of the Internet user. In conducting this study, the researcher employed by theory of planned behaviour by Ajzen (1985) and the descriptive research design and mixed research approach whereby data was collected from 98 respondents through questionnaire and interview. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS for quantitative data and thematic analysis was employed to analyse qualitative data obtained through interview. The results obtained from regression analysis shows that User Awareness (UA) has (β = .315, p< .001). These findings conclude that there is a positive and significant relationship between user awareness and the privacy protection behaviours among internet users. From the findings it can be concluded that user of internet needs to be aware of what data is being collected, how it be used and who will have access. This study recommends that the management of DCEA should conduct privacy impacts assessment, it also recommends that DCEA should provide an improved regular training and awareness programs for employees, moreover, it also recommends the use of data encryption services this will ensure that sensitive data are encrypted and protected in transit and at rest to protect it from unauthorized access, particularly in the event of breach or data loss. Lastly it recommends on improvement on incident response measures, whereby DCEA is required to improve its comprehensive incidence response plan for data breaches or privacy incidents, outlining how to detect, report and respond to such event promptly.
