Evaluation of a synthetic single-crystal diamond detector for relative dosimetry measurements on a CyberKnife™

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate a new commercial PTW-60019 microDiamond™ (PTW, Freiburg, Germany) synthetic singlecrystal diamond detector for relative dosimetry measurements on a clinical CyberKnife™ VSI (Accuray Inc., Sunnyvale, CA) system. Methods: Relative output factors (ROFs) were measured for collimator diameters from 5 to 60 mm, and compared with diode [PTW-60017, PTW-60018 and IBA Dosimetry (Schwarzenbruck, Germany) SFD] and ionization chamber (PTW-31014 PinPoint® and PTW-31010 Semiflex) measurements. “…The correction factors resulted ≈2% lower than those proposed by Ralston et al 31 16 on a CyberKnife system. Our dose response ratios thus result in an acceptable agreement with the already published ones, bearing in mind the different conditions in which those results were obtained.…”

“…[15][16][17][18] The microDiamond active volume is composed of a 1 µm thick intrinsic diamond layer, with a 1 mm radius and a total sensitive volume of 0.004 mm 3 . The effective point of measurement is 1 mm from the housing surface.…”

“…To assess the sampling distance and resolution, the x and y profiles of the 12 collimated small circular CyberKnife beams (5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 60 mm) were measured with the 1000SRS and compared to profiles measured in a water phantom using a synthetic diamond detector (TM60019, PTW), which was previously evaluated and validated for accurate CyberKnife beam commissioning [17]. The TM60019 has a sensitive volume of 0.004 mm 3 .…”

“…The output factors measured with the 1000SRS were compared to measurements with the TM60019 and with the small field diode E (TM60017, PTW). The output factors for the TM60019 were uncorrected as the TM60019 appears to require only small corrections relative to dose in water [17] and the output factors for the TM60017 were corrected by using Monte Carlo factors according to [18].…”
