“…Gray correlation analysis (GCA) was applied to evaluate the α‐glucosidase and PTP1B inhibitory activities according to the relative peak areas of major constituents in the samples from five localities. The GCA calculation process referred to the following literatures (Li et al, ; Shen et al, ; Zhu et al, ). In general, the higher the value of GCA, the better the inhibitory activities of compounds.…”

“…Purpurin is the major active component of Rubia tinctorum L., [ 73 ] a common madder plant, and exhibits various pharmacological activities such as immunomodulatory, antioxidant, antidepressant and neuroprotection activities. [ 74,75 ] In vitro assays suggested that purpurin has inhibitory effect on the aggregation of the Tau‐derived VQIVYK (PHF6) peptide. In vivo experiments demonstrated that purpurin significantly ameliorated the AD‐like neurodegenerative symptoms and rescued neurotoxicity of Tau‐engendered phenotypes by inhibiting Tau accumulation and reducing Tau phosphorylation.…”

“…On the other hand, raspberry ketone (RK) from Rheum officinalis inhibited melanogenesis by regulation of the posttranscriptional of tyrosinase gene expression [ 35 ]. In addition, Rheum officinalis contained tannins and gallic acid which act as antioxidant phenolic components [ 36 ].…”
