The studies examining this guidance in the healthcare sector have investigated the perceived duties and responsibilities of healthcare providers in an active shooter scenario from both their own (Hemingway et al 2019;Darais & Wood 2019;McKenzie et al 2019;Inaba et al 2018;Glass 2017) and a patient perspective (Kenney et al 2020;Giwa et al 2020;Sawyer 2015).
