“…The RAPIDEC CARBA NP test demonstrated an overall sensitivity of 69.3% in comparison to gold standard detection of meropenem and imipenem resistance by VITEK 2 system and E- test ( Table 2 and Table 3 ). Our results were less than that reported by other studies 22 , 29 , 30 which estimated the sensitivity of the RAPIDEC CARBA NP test for detecting CRE to be 89.8%, 93.9%, and 98.8%, respectively. The type of beta-lactamase enzymes carried by CRE isolates contributes to the variations in sensitivity and specificity of this test.…”

“…The probabilities of the presence of E. coli by VITEK 2 and MicroScan were 99% and 99.9%, respectively. To confirm species identification and antimicrobial susceptibilities, a modified Hodge test, carbapenemase inhibition test, XpertCarba-R assay (Cepheid, Sunnyvale, CA, USA), and REBA-EAC assay (a PCR-based reverse blot hybridization assay for detection of extended-spectrum β-lactamases, AmpC β-lactamases, and carbapenemases) were performed ( Table 1 ) [ 8 9 ]. PCR-amplified products of the bla NDM and bla OXA-48-like genes were sequenced using in-house primers NDM-290F (5′-GTT GGT CGA TAC CGC CTG GAC CGA T-3′) and NDM-516R (5′-AGTCAGGCTGTGTTGCGCCGCAAC-3′), OXA48-80F (5′-GTT GGA ATG CTC ACT TTA CTG-3′) and OXA48-279R (5′-AAG ACT TGG TGT TCA TCC TTA AC-3′), respectively.…”

“…All stool swab specimens for CPE screening were inoculated in the selective chromogenic medium (CHROMagar KPC, Hangang, Gunpo, Korea). The CRE isolates obtained from the clinical specimen were tested by the Modified Hodge test, carbapenemase inhibition test, and CarbaNP test (bioMérieux, Durham, NC, USA) [6], and then, the CPE suspects were tested by XpertCarba-R assay (Cepheid, Sunnyvale, CA, USA) [5]. Each time a CPE was isolated, the subcultured colony was delivered to the Korea Centers for Disease and Prevention (KCDC) for the confirmation of the carbapenemase genotype, and KCDC gave feedback about the type of carbapenemase genes present.…”
