Evaluation of Ex Vivo Thrombolytic Activity and in Vitro Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Thespesia Populnea Leaf Extract

Abstract: Thrombotic disorders like myocardial and cerebral infarction are fatal blood clotting related diseases. Synthetic therapeutics used in such disorders has serious adverse effects, so there is a need to investigate some more safe natural thrombolytic agents. Present study is a preliminary work towards such endeavors. During this study analysis of thrombolytic activity and anti-inflammatory activity of Thespesia populnea leaf extract using a simple and quick in vitro clot lysis assay was performed. Various concen… Show more

“…Some studies indicate that thrombolytic activity is probably due to the diverse composition of plant extracts' phytoconstituents, including alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and terpenoids [ 60 , 61 ]. The stem of BO is more active compared with the seed of BO.…”

“…The recovery rate of the membrane extraction method is related to the pore size of the membrane and the molecular weight of the target flavonoids. The high content of flavonoids in citrus has a molecular weight of 200–700 Da (Ali et al., 2015, Van der Bruggen et al., 2006, Wang et al., 2022). Conidi et al.…”

“…Furthermore, ethanolic and aqueous extract (100 mg/mL and 200 mg/mL) of the dried fruit of Amomum subulatum was also evaluated for its anti‐inflammatory activity against carrageenan‐induced paw edema in the rat. A considerable inhibition of inflammation (48.57% and 60%) was reported on administration of ethanolic and aqueous extract, respectively, for 5 hours (Alam et al, 2011). The plethora of bioactive volatile compounds (flavonoids and phenolic acids) present in the essential oil fragments is actively involved in mediating the anti‐inflammatory role of the fruit.…”

“…The important active constituents present in the fruit of Amomum subulatum are polyphenols, flavonoids, steroidal saponins, organo‐sulfur compounds and vitamins. 1,8‐cineole constitutes the major portion of the essential oil of Amomum subulatum (Alam et al, 2011). The endogenous biochemistry, composition, and varieties of these compounds vary and are primarily influenced by climatic conditions, harvesting time, storage, processing, and isolation methods.…”
