Evaluation of Phoma sp. Biomass as an Endophytic Fungus for Synthesis of Extracellular Gold Nanoparticles with Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties

Abstract: The aim of our study was to examine the different concentrations of AuNPs as a new antimicrobial substance to control the pathogenic activity. The extracellular synthesis of AuNPs performed by using Phoma sp. as an endophytic fungus. Endophytic fungus was isolated from vascular tissue of peach trees (Prunus persica) from Baft, located in Kerman province, Iran. The UltraViolet-Visible Spectroscopy (UV–Vis spectroscopy) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy provided the absorbance peak at 526 nm, while the… Show more

“…The concentrations of K, Ca, Mg, P, Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu were quantified by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) emission spectrometry (Agilent Technologies, Santa Clara, United States). Also, the estimation of the phosphorus concentration of the samples was determined by the vanadomolybdophosphoric acid colorimetric method [27] and using a spectrophotometer (ShimadzoUV2401 PC).…”

“…Most studies used just a few easily cultivable genera of fungi, i.e., Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penicillium, Trichoderma, and Verticillium [45][46][47][48][49]. Ascomycetes have produced many types of metal-containing NPs, including pure metal NPs of Ag, Au, and Fe [35,50,51] as well as metal oxide and sulfide NPs of Ag 2 S, Co 3 O 4 , CuO, Fe x O y , MnS, NiO, NiS, PbS, ZnO, and ZnS [35,[52][53][54] (Table 2). 2.1.1.…”
