“…The product used in this study ("ATOPIC SKIN BODY CREAM EXTREME") contains "SKIN CALM COMPLEX", which includes, among other ingredients, a multi-herbal complex extracted from seven plants (Rosemarinus officinalis, Matricaria recubita, Camellia sinensis, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Polygonum cuspidatum, Scutellaria baicalensis and Centella asiatica) and Dihydroavenanthramide D, synthetic Avenanthramide. Both active ingredients have shown their efficacy in the treatment of atopic dermatitis: i) multicompound herbal preparation showed anti-inflammatory effects by reduction of IL-8 production in vitro by lymphocytes and monocytes, and reduction of eczema area severity index (EASI), degree of pruritus and TEWL [24]; ii) keratinocytes treated with Avenanthramides showed a reduction of IL-8 release in vitro and topical application in murine models mitigated inflammation and pruritogen-induced scratching [25]. In this study, no effect on the production of IL-8 was found.…”
