Previous research has documented that psychocognitive resources and socioeconomic status have significant influences on investment behavior in financial assets. Drawing from the positive psychosocial perspective, I hypothesized that positive enterprising personality mediates the influence of individual characteristics on investment behaviour and tested them using Structural Equation Modeling method. The findings are that the enterprising personality mediates the influence of individual characteristics on investors’ inclination to invest which, in turn, influences stock market participation. These findings will be useful for financial service providers and regulators in designing educational programs to enhance enterprising personality qualities amongst people generally, and inculcate positive attitudes towards stock investments through mass-awareness programs.Subject classification codes: JEL: A13, A11, B26, C51, D53, G10, G41, G53, O16, O56, P34
