The aim of the current study was to review some of the administration issues at preschools from preschool teachers’ perspectives by employing a holistic, multiple-case design. Ten preschool teachers working in state-funded preschools in the Anatolian Side of Istanbul during Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 made up the sample of the study. The data collected from the participants through face-to-face interviews were divided into three themes, which are physical structure, staff and administration. Descriptive statistics were performed. The results revealed that architectural deficiencies in the physical structure, ineffective leadership in the workplace, problems with joint planning and consultation, inexperienced support staff, fees, interfering parents or guardians, double shift schooling and superficial approach to supervision were among the outstanding problems reported by the preschool teachers.

As one typical form of play, play center activities are commonly used in early childhood education programs in China. This study used the Activities Sub-scale of the Chinese Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (CECERS) to measure the quality of the play center activities in K2 (4-5 years old) classroom, which based on a stratiﬁed random selection of 48 classrooms in Guangdong Province in China. Results found that the overall quality of play center activities was slightly below qualified (5 points), and there are significant differences between urban and rural, private and public, high and low level of kindergartens. Quality of three dimensions (material and space, opportunity and time, design and organization) also showed a medium level (above 4 points), and significant differences of three dimensions are found between urban and rural, private and public, high and low level of kindergartens. Findings and implications will help teachers to better support and enhance children’s play center activities and early learning.

Okul öncesi eğitim Eğitim ortamı Sınıf içi eğitim ortamı Sınıf dışı eğitim ortamı Öz Okul öncesi dönemde eğitim ortamlarının hazırlanmasında ülkelerin konu ile ilgili yasa ve yönetmeliklerinde yer alan standartlar belirleyici olmaktadır. Bu açıdan Türkiye ele alındığında ve okul öncesi eğitim kurumlarının sağladıkları eğitsel ortam açısından farklılıkları göz önünde bulundurulduğunda ilgili yasa ve yönetmeliklerde ulusal bir standardın olmadığı görülmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı; Türkiye (2015), Singapur (2016), Avustralya (2016), Yeni Zelanda (2018) ve İsviçre (2019)'nin okul öncesi sınıf içi ve sınıf dışı eğitim ortamlarına dair standartların karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma deseninde, doküman analizi yönteminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Doküman analizi aracılığıyla Türkiye (2015), Singapur (2016), Avustralya (2016), Yeni Zelanda (2018) ve İsviçre (2019) ülkelerine ait okul öncesi eğitim ortamlarını betimleyen eğitim standartları incelenmiş ve döküman analizi yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Veri analizi sonucunda ülkelerin okul öncesi eğitimde sınıf içi ve sınıf dışı eğitim ortamları ile ilgili standartlara ilişkin benzer ve farklı yönlerin olduğu görülmüştür. Bu nedenle Türkiye'de okul öncesi dönemde sınıf içi ve sınıf dışı eğitim ortamlarına dair standartların geliştirilmesi ve eğitim kurumlarının bu standartlara uygunluğunun denetlenmesi önem kazanmaktadır.
