Event generators for η/η′ rare decays into π + π l + l and e + e μ + μ

Abstract: Study of the rare and forbidden decays of η/η′ offers a sensitive probe to test fundamental symmetries of quantum chromodynamics and search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. To study the rare decays of η/η′ to π+π−e+e−, π+π−μ+μ− and e+e−μ+μ− at the BESIII detector, we developed several event generators based on the vector meson dominant model with finite-width corrections and the pseudoscalar mesons mixing theory. The various distributions from event generators are in good agreement with the theoretic… Show more

“…An exclusive signal MC sample ψð3686Þ → Λ þ cp e þ e − is generated to determine the reconstruction efficiency. The signal MC sample is generated using a vector meson dominance (VMD) model [16][17][18], where the e þ e − pair in the final state is produced from a virtual photon decay. The VMD model is also implemented in Refs.…”

“…In general, the MC simulation in BOSS is performed by passing the Lorentz-vector of all the particles produced by the event generator into a simulation package of the BESIII detector after taking into account the detector construction, the detector response, the interaction between the particles, and the material [21]. In this paper, the event generators were developed in accordance with the corresponding η/η decay amplitudes, which are described in detail in Section 3, and then were implemented in BesEvtGen.…”

“…Three layers of tungsten are inserted in between the silicon planes (2, 3, 4 and 5) to enhance the conversion probability of gamma rays in electronpositron pairs. The BGO calorimeter is used to measure the energy deposition of incident particles and to reconstruct the electromagnetic shower profile [3]. The calorimeter is composed of 308 BGO crystal bars optically isolated from each other and arranged horizontally in 14 layers, each one of 22 bars.…”
