Evidence-based practice instruments for nurses validated for Portugal: scoping review protocol

Abstract

Introduction: Evidence-based practice promotes nurses' empowerment, increases safety and the quality of care. Objective: To map evidence-based practice instruments for nurses in the context of clinical practice, cross-culturally validated for the Portuguese population. Materials and Methods: It was followed the methodology proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute. The scoping review protocol was defined taking into account the defined criteria and suitability to the proposed databases/repositories. The relevance of the analysis of the articles, the extraction and the synthesis of the data will be carried out by two independent reviewers. Presentation and interpretation of results: The results will be presented descriptively, using tables, taking into account the purpose and focus of the scoping review. Conclusion: It is expected that this scoping review will allow the analysis and systematization of studies referring to instruments on evidence-based practice validated for the Portuguese population, promoting the use of appropriate and accurate measurement instruments, and thus, the increase in the operationalization of practice based on evidence in Portugal.
