Evolution modeling of stakeholder performance on relationship management in the dynamic and complex environments of megaprojects

Abstract: PurposeRelationship management evolves with dynamic and complex environments of megaprojects. However, studies on the longitudinal measurement of relationship management performance for each stakeholder in dynamic and complex project environments are lacking. The purpose of this research is to propose an NK-network evolution model to evaluate stakeholder performance on relationship management in the development of megaprojects.Design/methodology/approachThe model input includes the stakeholder-associated issue… Show more

“…Second, while local non‐environmental community groups are not established for the purpose of environmental protection, they may also mobilize public opinion in favor of or against an organization's environmental performance (Freudenberg, 1984; Henriques & Sadorsky, 1999; Xue et al, 2023). For example, a homeowner's association of a residential district may exert pressure on a company if its members are concerned about environmental issues and feel that the company's operations are polluting their environment.…”

“…In accordance with the network dynamics theory, there is a dynamic process of knowledge transfer and innovation. During this process, actors in pursuit of new knowledge are required to dominate and broaden information pathways via network dynamics (Cannella Jr. & McFadyen, 2016;Xue et al, 2023). Yet,how to coordinate dispersed knowledge and information resources is still a dilemma for academics and practitioners in megaproject organizations (Hartmann & Dorée, 2015;Liu et al, 2022b).…”

“…In terms of the CMCP's internal system, multi-level heterogeneous stakeholders with various expectations from different regions will be involved in projects, which may increase the complexity and challenge of coordination (Bahadorestani et al. , 2020; Xue et al. , 2022; Witz et al.…”
