“…The peak at 531.4 eV can be attributed to contributions from the surface hydroxyl groups [19], Al2O3 from FAS [51][52][53], and/or carbon dopants [17]. In particular, the peak centered at 530.5 eV, between the TiO2 (529.4 eV) and Al2O3 (531.4 eV) peaks, can be attributed to the formation of Al-O-Ti bonds [53][54][55], confirming the results of the ATR-FTIR measurements. Based on the above analyses, we can conclude that the electronic environments of Ti, C cations and O anions were significantly affected by the coupling between C-TiO2 and FAS and the subsequent formation of Si-O-C and Al-O-Ti bonds.…”

“…The highresolution XPS spectra of La 3+ 3d 3/2 and La 3+ 3d 5/2 further proved the presence of La ions in the chemical state of La 3+ in K 1Àx La x TaO 3 nanocrystals (Fig. 4b) [21][22][23]. Thus La 3+ is highly possible to substitute K + rather than Ta 5+ sites in the as prepared samples, because (1) the ionic radius for La 3+ is 1.06 Å, much close to that of 1.33 Å for K + , whereas larger than that of 0.69 A for Ta 5+ , (2) the Pauling's electronegativity of La 3+ is 1.30, close to 0.93 for K + but much smaller than that of 1.80 for Ta 5+ [24].…”

“…After coating titanium dioxide, the hiding power of calcium carbonate can be greatly improved. Ren et al [19] used the chemical deposition method to prepare TiO 2 -coated sericite powders in 2008. The light scattering index of the TiO 2 -coated lamellar sericite powders was much higher than the uncoated sericite.…”
