Evolutionary Strategy Algorithm in a Complex Photonic Coupler Device Optimization

Abstract: The photonic device modeling and optimizations has, commonly, required sophisticated computational approaches. This work presents an efficient Evolutionary Strategy (ESCH) algorithm to optimize unbalanced photonic coupler devices that are benchmarked with other algorithms. The successful results motivated the free online distribution of this algorithm on the MIT NLOpt Library.
