Examine the Performance of different Topologies using Opnet 14. 5 in ZigBee Sensor Network

Abstract: This research work is implemented in ZigBee using IEEE 802.15.4 protocol stack, it is most widely used technique in wireless sensor network for low rate wireless personal area network. In this paper three topologies are used i.e. mesh, tree and hybrid topology. The hybrid topology is implemented by using the combination of mesh and tree topology. The data-based setup is done by changing mobile percentage of nodes. The performance of these topologies is measured using parameters throughput, MAC delay, DTR and D… Show more

“…However, many works analyze specific routing algorithms for WSN structures. In [32,33], the performance of a network running on ZigBee using the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol stack was evaluated using the parameters: throughput, delay, lost data, and received and sent data traffic. The obtained data show that it is possible to get a satisfactory reply by using a blend of star and tree topologies as well as mesh and hybrid topologies.…”

“…When source node has data to transmit to the destination node then it will create RREQ (route request message) and send to all neighbors in the network, when the destination node found or neighbor node found the route to destination then they will generate a RREP (route reply message) and forward back to source node. After the creation of route between source node and destination node they can exchange the data [7,17,14].…”

“…As a conclusion, the recommendation packet sizes are 40 and 60 bytes for time-critical applications such as health-care applications. Examining the performance of different topologies of ZigBee sensor networks is the subject of the work in Kaur et al (2004). Three different topologies been used with mobile nodes: Mesh, tree, and hybrid topology.…”
