“…The variations of the magnetic field were present during this entire interval. The effect shown in this case is very weak in comparison to the effect reported from DEMETER registration (Parrot et al 2006;Błęcki et al 2010), but clearly seen. The spectra have a maximum in the lowest part of the frequency range and correspond to the range below the oxygen ions O ?…”

“…Several models have been proposed to summarize the main physical mechanisms and the corresponding effects starting from the ground up to the ionosphere/magnetosphere (Gokhberg et al, 1985;Pulinets et al, 2000Pulinets et al, , 2002Sorokin et al, 2001;Molchanov et al, 2004). Characteristic variations in the critical frequency foF2 (Silina et al, 2001), the total electron content (Liu et al, 2004), the ion temperature (Sharma et al, 2006) or the local ion and electron density (Parrot et al, 2006) were found.…”

“…Also disturbances related to nuclear accidents were observed (Ruzhin et al, 1995;Martynenko et al, 1996) and associated to the propagation of acoustic-gravity waves (Row, 1967). More details about these investigations and others are reviewed by Parrot (1995).…”

“…By studying remote sensing satellite data, researchers have found various abnormal events in the lithosphere, atmosphere and ionosphere prior to large earthquakes, which are reflected in thermal infrared (TIR) anomalies (Gorny et al, 1988;Tronin, 1996;Tramutoli et al, 2005;Pulinets et al, 2006), and ionospheric anomalies (Pulinets and Boyarchuk, 2004;Hayakawa, 2000;Liu et al, 2004;Sarkar et al, 2007;Parrot et al, 2006) prior to the earthquake events. The latest advancements in lithospheric-atmospheric-ionospheric models provide a possible explanation for the origin of these phenomena (Pulinets and Boyarchuk, 2004;Pulinets and Ouzounov, 2011;Liperovsky et al, 2005Liperovsky et al, , 2008Liperovsky et al, , 2011Umarkhodgaev et al, 2012), permitting us to explore possible new studies of the spatial and temporal variability of remote sensing data before and during major earthquakes.…”
