Background:Nomophobia, a state of socio-psychological illness, refers to a fear of lack of access to mobile phone, which is thought to be a modern age disorder that causes negative health risks and harmful psychological effects. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the smartphone use and nomophobia disorder among university students.Methods:The study utilized a cross-sectional method in which 320 students were selected via cluster sampling. Data collection tools included a nomophobia and smartphones use questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22 software in two sections: descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.Results:The incidence rate of nomophobia among the students was moderate (3.1), and 73% of the students were moderate smartphone users. Nomophobia had a significant relationship with gender, age group, and level of education; and the frequency of using smartphones had a significant relationship with age group and level of education. There was a positive correlation coefficient between nomophobia and the frequency of using smartphones. The mobile phone use predicted nomophobia with a beta coefficient of 0.402 (P < 0.05).Conclusions:Given the incidence rate of nomophobia disorder was moderate, it is necessary to make preventive decisions and plan educational programs in this regard for the health of university students. Alternative actions are recommended for the treatment in low rate of nomophobia, but drug therapy should be used in more advanced stages; therefore, it is suggested that more attention to be paid to students’ free time and entertainments.

Background: Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives. These include electronic games, home computers, hand held devices and other gadgets. Children of the present days spend much time with gadgets. This might have a negative and positive impact on them. Bruxism is a conscious or unconscious, non-functional grinding or clenching of teeth. Aim: The survey aims at assessing the usage of gadgets among bruxism associated children. Materials and Methods:A survey questionnaire on the usage of gadgets and bruxism was prepared. This survey was conducted by circulating among the parents. The questions were focused on the bruxism and usage of gadgets by the children. Bruxism questions were framed according to the guidelines given by the American Association of Sleep Medicine. The results were analyzed. Results: There was higher participation of age groups of 6 to 10 years than the other age groups. Most of the children use gadgets more frequently. Most of the children spend their time playing games online. 60.29% of the parents were aware of the ill effects of using gadgets. 39.71% of the parents restricted the usage of gadgets. 67.65% of the children have the habit of either clenching or grinding the teeth. 32.81% of the children clench their teeth during the day. The present study reported that most of the children don't experience headaches (44.12%) during waking up. 50% don't experience jaw pain. 51.47% don't experience tooth or gum pain when waking up. It has also been reported that during stress or after continuous usage of gadgets, 47.06% don't clench their teeth. 35.29% of parents are aware that the usage of gadgets can cause tooth grinding. 41.18% of the parents feel that their children's sleep gets disturbed due to the continuous usage of gadgets. 57.35% of the parents are aware of the treatment strategies. Conclusion: Usage of gadgets does not bring about a direct impact on the child. It does impact the stress, outcome of the score of the games played and so on. Therefore, future studies should be conducted to bring about the correlation between using gadgets and bruxism in children.

Digital technology profoundly impacts family dynamics, posing challenges for therapists. This article explores how excessive technology use affects family interactions, illustrated through three case studies. The aim is to highlight the implications of overuse rather than the inherent properties of technology. Using Bowen family systems therapy and socioculturally attuned family therapy, a blending of these systemic approaches, the therapist designed targeted interventions to address excessive technology use within diverse family systems. Interventions shifted pre‐intervention attitudes and technology‐related beliefs, where family members viewed technology as either a source of conflict or an integral part of daily life. Six 90‐minute family therapy sessions were conducted where families, with varied pre‐intervention perspectives on technology, transitioned towards technology moderation, fostering digital mindfulness and offline family activities. Understanding and addressing the interplay between technology and family dynamics are crucial. Cultural considerations and sensitivity towards generational, ethnic and technological cultural differences were emphasised. An immigrant family and their first‐generation American children exemplify the intersection of cultural identity, generational technology gap and technology integration, advocating for socioculturally attuned therapeutic approaches.
