The development of oil refining in advanced nations is mostly focused on low-carbon fuel. Similar efforts are being made to improve the fuel efficiency of internal combustion engines, which will result in lower exhaust emissions. Furthermore, by assessing the indicated trends in engine building, it is important for fuel manufacturers to understand how the requirements for gasoline quality indicators will change, primarily for its knock resistance. The aim of the current comprehensive article is to study the state-of-the-art review emphasizing recent progress and prospects for producing high-octane gasoline fuel toward market development. The market for branded gasoline and multifunctional additives, involving friction modifiers, corrosion inhibitor components, as well as detergent components is presented. Furthermore, market development trends and quality requirements for motor gasoline, involving antiknocking characteristics and gasoline oxygenated compounds as additives, are exhibited. Besides, perspective gasoline engine technologies, including different types of engines, are declared. The formulation of effective gasoline surrogates is a challenging task due to advanced combustion strategies, engine design, and variable operating conditions in spark-ignition engines. The extensive development of direct injection and turbocharging technologies is constrained by the actual compression ratio of engines. Likewise, an increase in the knock resistance of the produced gasoline would further increase the compression ratio and efficiency of new internal combustion engines.

This study aims to identify the optimal operating parameters for the carbon dioxide (CO2) capture process using a combination of artificial intelligence and metaheuristics techniques. The main objective of the study is to maximize CO2 capture capacity. The proposed method integrates fuzzy modeling with the RUNge Kutta optimizer (RUN) to analyze the impact of three operational factors: carbonation temperature, carbonation duration, and H2O-to-CO2 flow rate ratio. These factors are considered to maximize the CO2 capture. A fuzzy model was developed based on the measured data points to simulate the CO2 capture process in terms of the stated parameters. The model was then used to identify the optimal values of carbonation temperature, carbonation duration, and H2O-to-CO2 flow rate ratio using RUN. The results of the proposed method are then compared with an optimized performance using the response surface methodology (RSM) and measured data to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed strategy. The results of the study showed that the suggested technique increased the CO2 capture capacity from 6.39 to 6.99 by 10.08% and 9.39%, respectively, compared to the measured and RSM methods. This implies that the proposed method is an effective approach to maximize the CO2 capture capacity. The results of this study can be used to improve the performance of the CO2 capture process in various industrial applications.

In this study, the design of fuzzy logic control (FLC) systems for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is improved. The improvement is made possible by using a gradient-based optimizer (GBO), which maximizes the FLC systems’ freedom and flexibility while enabling accurate and speedy tracking. During optimization, the parameters of the FLC membership functions are considered choice variables, and the error integral is assigned to be the objective function. The proposed GBO-FLC method’s results are contrasted with those of other computational methods. The results demonstrated that the proposed GBO-FLC beats the other strategies regarding mean, median, variance, and standard deviation. A thorough comparison between the regular FLC and the upgraded FLC was conducted using a variety of scenarios with varied temperatures and water content. The results demonstrate that the suggested FLC-based GBO design provides a dependable MPPT solution in PEMFCs. The advancement of FLC systems through optimizing power generation in fuel cells is made possible by this work, opening the door for more effective and reliable alternative energy sources.
