Managers of software small companies struggle to manage their software process. Therefore, for them realizing and understanding the impact of human factors on software process is even more challenging. Although human factors have been proved to have impact on software process, unfortunately they have been overlooked altogether. This paper proposes a holistic view of human factors on software process in VSE, focusing on the concerns and perceived shortcomings present. In order to identify and compare the human factors, the author carried out a systematic comparison of human factors. As a result, this study identifies the connection between software process defined in ISO/IEC 29110 and human factors given in ISO 10018 and its pertinence. In light of that, the author outlines first steps towards enhanced implementation of ISO/IEC 29110 standard based on ISO 10018.

ISO/IEC 29110 is intended to help very small entities in improving their software processes. However, this standard is not the only initiative devoted to help organizations in these matters. For instance, ITMark is an established method with an important background in terms of number and diversity of assessments. The aim of this paper is to present a method to assess ISO/IEC 29110 by means of the evaluation performed under the ITMark certification schema built upon an experience factory. To do so, in this paper, authors present, firstly, a mapping for ITMark to ISO/IEC 29110 and, secondly, a study to test the applicability of the assessments made by ITMark in the ISO/IEC 29110 environment taking into account the previous mapping. The main conclusion from this industrial experience is that ITMark can be used as a method for assessing very small entities.

Abstract. The emerging ISO/IEC 29110 standard Lifecycle profiles for Very Small Entities has at its core a Management and Engineering Guides which is targeted at very small entity (enterprise, organization, department or project) having up to 25 people, to assist them unlock the potential benefits of using standards which are specifically designed to address there needs. The developers of the standard, ISO/IEC JCT1/SC7 Working Group 24 (WG24), recommend the use of pilot projects as a mean to trial the adoption of the new International standard in small organisations. Accordingly an ISO/IEC 29110 pilot project has been established between the Software Engineering group of Brest University and a 14 person company with the aim of establishing an engineering discipline for a new web-based project. This paper details the lessons learned from the pilot project and based on our experiences with using ISO/IEC 29110 we identify a potential deficiency and accordingly propose new process area, "Infrastructure and Support" for include in the future evolution of ISO/IEC 29110 Process Profiles.
