Timely and efficient analysis of big data collected from various gateways installed in a smart city is an intractable problem and requires immediate priority. Given the stochastic and massive nature of big data, the existing literature often relies on artificial intelligence techniques based on information theory. As a new approach, this paper presents a knowledge extraction method based on an analysis of Seoul Metro's 'untraceable' ridership big data. Without identification information, the untraceable ridership data only shows the hourly accumulation of station entry and exit information. To reconstruct the missing information in the data set, this study proposes a fluid dynamics model and adopts a heuristic genetic algorithm based on optimization theory as the problem solver. The result of our model presents the distribution of the elapsed time defined on an hourly basis taken until a passenger returns to the station they departed from. To validate our model, we acquired subway ridership data with passengers' identification with permission from Seoul Metro. This paper presents two novel aspects of subway ridership, namely the dependency on departure time and the discrepancy between weekend and weekday traffic. Our analytical approach contributes to solving the problem of extracting hidden knowledge from big collection of data missing critical information, e.g., constantly and autonomously gathered data fragments from numerous gateways in smart cities. In this paper, a novel integrated SHE -NLC control is proposed for the mitigation of unwanted lower-order harmonics in the cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter. The proposed algorithm has been developed by hybridizing the NLC and SHE methods, in an attempt to keep the merits of both the individual control. The switching angles and nearest levels are calculated by applying the Genetic Algorithm (GA). The proposed technique reduces the calculation time and implementation complexity, thus can be a viable alternative to the real time implementation for SHE. Integrated NLC-SHE control is tested by varying the modulation index and load dynamics. This technique resulted in the reduction in Total Harmonic Distortion (THDs) in load voltage and current. Comparative analysis of NLC, SHE and Integrated NLC-SHE technique is also performed on the CHB nine-level inverter. There is significant reduction in voltage and current THD values and power losses. Efficiency of the inverter is increased. The efficacy of the proposed control CHB nine-level is tested on MATLAB Simulink environment and further validated by experimental results.

A six phase system is a balanced multiphase system that can be replace, in certain applications, the three phase system and the application becomes much fault tolerant. In the six phase system a phase angle of 60 degrees is maintained between the phases. Handling power with more number of phases reduces the maximum current in each of the phase in the system. In this work a six phase balanced AC output is derived from a three phase AC source. The proposed system uses a resonant single phase AC link driven by a three phase bidirectional converter unit AC link is feeding for a single phase to six phase bidirectional converter. The proposed methodology is a general purpose electronic three phase to six phase conversion system, suitable for applications such as six phase induction motor. Also, it can be used as the front end power conversion stage for a six phase PMSG based wind energy harvesting system, and used for the fault tolerant STATCOM units. The proposed system can replace the conventional STAR/ STAR and STAR/DELTA three phase transformer combination systems needed for 12 pulse rectifiers used in HVDC. The proposed system has been validated using simulations in the MATLAB SIMULINK environment and the relevant experimental verification.
