Experimental Investigation on Earing Behavior of Aluminum/Copper Bimetal Sheet

Abstract: The effect of post-annealing treatment on the texture evolution of an Al/Cu bimetal sheet as well as on the earing behavior was investigated. The earing behavior was tracked by means of measuring plastic anisotropy and deep drawing. The analysis texture evolution for asrolled and annealed samples was performed by X-ray diffraction. The study results show that Ár= " r r value increases and becomes positive when annealing temperature rises up to 300 C, in the meanwhile, a transition was observed from 45 to 0/90 … Show more

“…Less attention has been devoted to the behavior of plastic anisotropy caused by the textures and mechanical properties of bimetal sheets in the forming processes. The texture evolution of Al/Cu sheet and the effect of plastic anisotropy on earing behavior in a deep drawing process were investigated in [8]. Researchers concluded that the mismatch between sheets of Cu and Al, particularly regarding plastic anisotropy, had a good impact on the properties of the resulting bimetal Al/Cu sheet.…”

“…They also stated that the wrinkling state during deep drawing is controlled by the harder stainless steel. Chen et al [2] investigated the earing behavior of Al / Cu bimetallic sheet during cylindrical deep drawing. They bonded aluminum and copper sheets by cold rolling.…”

“…Aluminium-Copper clad sheets are widely used as electric elements such as power connectors, tapes, battery casings, condenser casings and as heat conductive elements in heat exchangers because of its higher magnetic shielding, heat conductivity, corrosion resistance, lighter weight and lower price than pure copper or copper alloys [15,16]. The research on the study of bending behaviour of Al-Cu bimetallic sheet has not been extensively studied yet.…”
