Experimental Study on Direct Harvesting of Corn Kernels

Abstract: The mechanical harvesting of corn has always been a problem for the development of the corn industry. In the present investigation, a tangential flow–transverse axial flow threshing test system was designed based on the 4YL-4/5 harvester. The structure design was modular, and the threshing drum and other key parts could be changed, or the technical parameters could be adjusted according to the needs. Thus, the system becomes suitable to carry out the threshing test of various grains. In this paper, two kinds o… Show more

“…Concerning corn kernels, the ventral part of the corn kernel (the impact location of corn seeds is shown in Figure 2) withstood a higher impact when the moisture content was the same [30,31]. Yang [32], Zhao [33], and Zhang [34] also drew the above conclusions. With the decrease in the grain moisture content, the hardness, tensile strength, and shear strength of the corn kernels increased.…”

“…Therefore, the rotating speed of the conveyor belt at the 0.5~0.5 level (actual value at 180-220 r/min) and the cutter-head speed at the 0.5~1 level (actual value at 350-400 r/min), a high qualifying rate of cabbage harvesting can be achieved. In order to obtain the optimal parameter combination for the qualifying rate of the 4GCSD-1200 type cabbage harvester, considering the boundary conditions of each factor, a constrained optimization was made on the objectives above, based on the cabbage operation quality requirements and actual operation conditions; the objective function and restrained condition are [27]:…”
