The ESL classrooms plan an animated role to enhance the support for English as a second language in most of the areas of the world. The global village has dominated the context of newness and support for the use of English this is why the use of the language is increased. The need for increasing enhancement is high for the classrooms' output in the context of production and interaction. This is why the participation rate needs to be more in the classes. The role of motivation is promising in this regard to cultivating support for more output from ESL classrooms. Motivation is an action tool that may lead to the growth of the learning process. It is a scheduled practice that may allow the learners to grow with time. Motivation is an important concern in this regard to enhance the tendency of learning. It is evaluated by Li (2020) that most of the students can learn better only because they are highly motivated while those students who are less motivated may drop the course. English is an easy language if the motivation might exist to learn it with continuity. In addition, both internal and external motivational factors are essential in this regard. Motivation has an animated role to enhance the concerns of motivation which may allow the boost to learning it not as a formality but with dedication and support (Htun, 2019). There is a dire need of applying smart tools and see the promising growth of varied instruments in this regard for the professional growth of individuals. English has justified itself to be an essential tool in moving ahead in the world. The analysis has evaluated the motivation role with the aid of relevant tools of qualitative investigation plan of methodology via secondary analysis support.

Introduction: English as a Second Language (ESL) proficiency has become vital for global communication and essential in education. On the other hand, motivation, defined as the internal drive to engage with enthusiasm, plays a pivotal role in language acquisition. However, motivating ESL learners is a critical challenge for educators, as English is recognized as an international language with broad applications. Therefore, understanding the importance of motivation is crucial in ESL contexts. Objective: The objective of this review is to examine motivational strategies in ESL classrooms and underscore their significance in enhancing students’ enthusiasm, participation, language development, and overall success, with a specific focus on providing ESL educators with valuable tools and insights for effective implementation. Methodology: This review follows a methodical approach including literature search and data extraction. Twenty articles published between 1975 and 2022 were reviewed, which focused on motivation strategies in ESL classrooms. Results: Motivation in ESL classrooms can be categorized as internal or external: instrumental or integrative. Effective motivation strategies include setting clear goals, employing the incentive theory, using awards and rewards, role-plays, integrating technology, and activity-based methods. Additionally, creating a positive classroom climate and offering real-life language experiences also contribute to motivation. Conclusion: Motivation is crucial for ESL learners’ success; therefore, it is recommended that educators adopt innovative teaching approaches and deepen their understanding of motivation to inspire students, contributing to enhanced language proficiency.

The Effects of Reader’s Theatre on Students’ Reading Performance: A Systematic Review

Reading skills has always been emphasised in English language classrooms because reading skills is believed to be crucial in helping students become proficient writers and speakers in the process of second language acquisition. However, the "Programme for International Student Assessment" (PISA) 2018 results revealed that most of Malaysian students were still below international benchmark in reading. Therefore, the current systematic review focuses on the effectiveness of Reader's Theatre, a strategy to teach reading, in improving students' reading performance. Employing the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses" (PRISMA) review methodology, a total of 15 eligible articles were selected from two databases, which were ERIC and Google Scholar. The identified articles ranged from the year 2013 to 2022. From the articles, it was found out that Reader's Theatre was effective in improving students' oral reading fluency and reading comprehension. Most of the studies in the primary school context focused on the components of oral reading fluency, such as pronunciation, word recognition and prosody; studies in the secondary school context focused more on vocabulary building and reading comprehension. The results also demonstrated the effects of Reader's Theatre in improving motivation among students. It is suggested that future studies focus more on investigating the effectiveness of Reader's Theatre with the integration of technology.
