This paper explores the interface between immigration and compliance with planning regulations using data from interviews and a focus group with senior planning enforcement officers in London. The data reveals distinctive issues that arise for immigrants' compliance with planning regulations, specific types of residential, commercial and cultural breach that occur with immigration, and operational issues that arise when investigating and resolving planning breaches involving immigrant communities, including gender sensitivities and language barriers. The paper concludes that despite difficulty distinguishing immigration from ethnicity, faith or religious affiliation, there are important normative and principled aspects of i ig a ts compliance with planning regulations. .

Legal education has witnessed a significant rise in the number of Animal Law courses since 1989, especially in the United States where 164 universities have offered the subject. This article discusses the worldwide growth in provision in the context of a failure to match this impetus in the United Kingdom. It addresses how the continuing rise in the profile of legal issues relating to animals such as the failure to control the disappearance of species, links between poaching and international terrorism and the welfare of 56 billion animals slaughtered for meat worldwide have been largely ignored by the UK legal academy. Possible reasons for this are postulated including a professional realignment of UK legal education. An approach to Animal Law grounded in the methodology of socio-legal studies is discussed. It is suggested that Animal Law provides an opportunity for the UK legal academy to contribute its particular skills to the development of this new area of legal education and research. It would help move UK legal education towards a greater recognition and provision regarding the interaction of sustainable human activities, animals and the law. Institutionalizing Social Norms and Legal Culture: Social Dynamics under Legal Awareness Policy in Contemporary China

This paper examines China's policies on legal awareness in mid-2021. It brings into focus the social dynamics of the continuous institutionalization of social norms that are shaping the legal culture in China. It is argued that the discovery of legal culture outweighed the sociocultural imaginations of orders by the institutionalization of social norms. On the utilization of laws, it shows that the utilization of the laws is the direct result of the psychological expectation in seeking Justice via the laws-i.e. the narrower the gap between law-on-the-book and law-in-action, the higher incentives the Chinese citizens resorting disputes to the laws. On enhancing the obedience of the laws, it shows that a powerful discourse would be engineered with the external ideological environment/social norms (values, beliefs, and Zeitgeist of the contemporary Chinese society) such as the political atmosphere of "anti-corruption", "security", and "safety" and the recall of the pure socialist spirit.
