Show more

“…Among the clinical signs of EC in humans are progressive dysphagia, weight loss, odynophagia, anorexia, fever and retrosternal pain (Felin et al , 2008; Haster and Owyang, 2013), which are similar to those verified in bovines (Borzacchiello et al , 2003). Scarce epidemiological data about EC in cattle are available.…”

“…Esophageal carcinoma (EC) is the eight human malignancy most frequent globally [287,288] and the third most common gastrointestinal cancer [289]. In 2012, it was verified 45,800 new cases and 400,200 deaths by the EC [264].…”

“…Consumption of bracken fern also predisposes the incidence of esophageal carcinoma (Masuda et al 2011), which is directly associated with BPV-4 infection (Borzacchiello et al 2003;Masuda et al 2011). The clinical signs of esophageal carcinoma in humans (Felin et al 2008;Haster and Owyang 2013) are similar to those in bovines (Borzacchiello et al 2003). Immunosuppression is the most common identified cofactor for HPV-induced cancers (Chaturvedi et al 2009).…”
