Expression of Claudin-7 Molecule in Canine Perianal GlandTumours

Abstract: The present study evaluated the expression of claudin-7 in 10 intact perianal gland and 67 hyperplastic and neoplastic lesions of the canine perianal (hepatoid) gland. The results have shown intense typical membrane expression of claudin-7 in intact perianal glands, hyperplasia, adenoma, differentiated and anaplastic carcinoma of this gland. In intact glands, hyperplasias, adenomas of the hepatoid gland, normal, hyperplastic and neoplastic basal cells never expressed claudin-7 molecule. Epitheliomas of the hep… Show more

“…Tamoxifen therapy is commonly used for mammary gland tumors defined as ER-positive, i.e., showing estrogen receptor expression. Low estrogen receptor expression in tumor-lesioned mammary gland cells results in low efficacy of tamoxifen treatment [20][21][22]. ER-positive tumors can be described as having a better prognosis [23], while ER-negative tumors are described as more aggressive and more likely to give metastases [24].…”

“…Immunohistochemically, the studies generally focused on integral membran tight junction (12)(13)(14), tumor cell-hormon dependency mechanism (22). There are also some studies about making its differentiation from other tumors by using several antibodies.…”

“…The exact etiology of perianal gland tumors incidence has not been explained yet; however, there are relationships between their occurrence, sex and hormonal status (2,3). According to epidemiological data, the perianal gland tumors contribute to 9-18% of the total neoplastic changes of the skin in dogs (4)(5)(6)(7).…”
