“…With the development of microsurgery, all kinds of free flaps are used in tongue reconstruction. At present, RFF flaps [15,16], ALT flaps [13,17], LAF flaps [8,18], perforator flaps from the lower leg [19 ]and DIEP flaps [20]are also utilized in tongue reconstruction. Postoperative speech function and swallowing function quality depend on the strength, volume, and flexibility of the remaining tongue and flap repair.…”

For example, grade If flap necrosis involves less than 5 percent flap volume of fat-only necrosis, whereas grade IIIsf flap necrosis involves up to 50 percent of flap loss involving both skin and fat.…”

“…DIEP total failure rate ranges from 0 percent [24][25][26] to 10 percent 27 in the literature, with most larger series including more than 30 DIEP flaps reporting rates of less than 3 percent. [28][29][30] The largest number of total flap failures in any given series is 11 (2 percent) of 564 DIEP flaps. 31 This article is composed of two parts.…”

“…The inferior epigastric artery perforator flaps are exceedingly used in head and neck (Masià et al, 2011), breast reconstruction (Karunanithy et al, 2011) and scar surgeries (Shang et al, 2011). The inferior epigastric artery is known to have variations in its origin.…”
