“…Compared with traditional methods such as chemical pesticides, lamp trapping, and color plate trapping, insect sex attractants are environmentally friendly, easy to operate, and highly specific (Kouloussis et al, 2022; Millar et al, 2022). Cuelure (CL), 4‐(p‐acetoxyphenyl)‐2‐butanone, was first discovered by Beroza et al (1960) in organic synthesis experiments as an attractant for male Z. cucurbitae (Biswas et al, 2022; Guptaa & Regmib, 2022). Culcure is also effective against 56 related species, such as the Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt) and Dacus ciliatus (Low), so it is considered an important attractant for monitoring fruit flies internationally (Arya et al, 2022; Yazdani, 2022).…”

“…By mixing male attractants with pesticides and spraying them on the field in large quantities, the "male-killing" technology of fruit flies, has been utilized to eradicate fruit fly pests on islands isolated from the mainland (Shelly et al, 2014). Cuelure [4-(p-Acetoxyphenyl)-2-butanone] (CUE) is a male attractant for Z. cucurbitae Coquillett, which was first discovered in 1960 by Beroza et al in a series of 4-phenyl -2-butanone isomers synthesized organically (Biswas et al, 2022). It not only enhances the sexual mating activity of male Z. cucurbitae Coquillett but also has the ability to attract male Z. cucurbitae Coquillett (Guptaa et al, 2022).…”
