Following calls from scholars advocating a more phenomenological perspective for research on events (Getz et al, 2001;Pettersson & Getz, 2009;Coghlan & Filo, 2013;Davies et al, 2014), we conducted a study based on participant observation of Landsmót 2012 in Reykjavík.…”

“…All these small units work as a gear of big wheel in order to run the system effectively. Ziakas & Boukas, (2013) and Gibson, Kaplanidou, & Kang (2012) addressed the tourism potential of small scale sports events as a sport product. Interscholastic sports which are considered as a form of basic student activity and a common extracurricular activity in schools (Cianfrone, Zhang, Pitts & Byon, 2015) are small scale sports events.…”

“…This removes the subjective, idiosyncratic element so pivotal to phenomenological research and aligns Axelse s esea h ith postpositivism. In addition, for this thesis, as will be discussed later, experience is a phenomenon that is to e i estigated th ough i te p etati e ethods that espe t the su je ti e atu e of the stud s fo us (Ziakas & Boukas, 2013). This issue is raised here because one recent paper has pursued a deeper understanding of motivations to attend events and festivals by considering their relationship with subjective experience and satisfaction (de Geus, Richards & Toepoel, 2013).…”

“…Secondly, despite this, and Mannell & IsoAhola s p e iti ue o the su je t, a ha ge of esea h app oa h has ee slo to ate ialise and moreover, phenomenological research beyond the acknowledgment of its investigative potential by Ziakas & Boukas (2014) in event management remains largely underused. There are few phenomenological investigations into music event experience in peer-reviewed literature, with Ziakas & Boukas (2013) being a rare example. There are a large number of investigations in closely connected areas which include: tourist experiences (Andrews, 2006(Andrews, , 2009(Andrews, , 2011Hayllar & Griffin, 2005;Cohen, 1979aCohen, , 1979b, music listening (Dura 2006) and consumer experience (Thompson, Locander and Pollio, 1989).…”
