“…The similar improvement was also observed in Ru(III). Its extraction from HNO 3 (aq) to an organic phase like tri-n-butyl phosphate/n-dodecane is not very efficient (log D ≤ 10 −1 ), 25 whereas D observed in this study was 39.2 at the maximum. This result also reveals effectiveness of the current technique utilizing a combination of the thermomorphic IL and MAE.…”

“…The experimental result reveal that, the percentage of desorption increases with the increase in nitric acid concentration. This can be attributed to the fact that, Ru exhibit multiple oxidation states such as Ru(II), Ru(III), Ru(IV) and Ru(VIII) and mostly exist in III and IV states in nitric acid and its chemistry varies widely in different concentration of nitric acid forming several species of nitrosyl nitrato ruthenium which affect the separation efficiency [36–37] . High acidity, fast extraction, and slow scrubbing are recommended for better decontamination.…”

Hence, our results corroborate the earlier reported behavior of ruthenium (III) in nitric acid medium during desorption study.…”

“…Various methods exist to study kinetics of reactive mass transfer in liquid‐liquid extraction and some of them have been applied to the nuclear field for years . The single‐drop method, Nitsch cells, and Lewis cells all offer the possibility to determine a global kinetic constant.…”
