“…The analysis of the medical records of TB-infected male convicts showed that they were diagnosed with various forms of tuberculosis: 58 per cent infiltration, 22 per cent disseminated tuberculosis, 16 per cent fibrous cavernous tuberculosis and 4 per cent focal tuberculosis [25]. The majority of tuberculosis patients are burdened with HIVrelated (26 %) [26,27] or psychosomatic disease (diabetes, neurosis, hypertension, heart disease) -52 % [23]. In order to exclude psychopathological disorders in TBinfected male convicts, the "Method of character accentuation research" (H. Smyshek, K. Leongard) has been used.…”

“…The ULISSE study, which recently compared a standardized strategy to a free strategy for the etiological diagnosis of uveitis, shows that tuberculosis is responsible for 10.7% of the identified cause uveitis among the 676 patients included [13]. The prevalence of ocular TB is greater in immunocompromised patients [14] and asymptomatic ocular involvement is not uncommon in these subjects, justifying systematic ocular exploration [15]. This diagnosis was retained on the basis of clinical and paraclinical arguments.…”

“…A recent comprehensive review identified only a few studies that assessed ocular involvement in patients with eTB, and their conclusions varied widely4: studies of disseminated TB from hospitals in India,10 Turkey15 and Malawi11 found eye lesions in 50%, 17% and 5.7%, respectively; one study of neuro-tuberculosis from an Indian hospital found ocular lesions in 35% of patients,18 and one study of patients with eTB from a hospital in Spain found eye lesions in 17% of the population 9. Several other studies have investigated eye lesions in patients with TB but have not reported eye involvement stratified by whether disease was pulmonary or extrapulmonary 8 12 13.…”

“…Despite the fact that asymptomatic ocular TB lesions may accompany lesions elsewhere in the body,4 eye examinations are typically not performed in the absence of visual symptoms. Given the paucity of available tests for TB and difficulty in diagnosing eTB, eye examinations could be a valuable test for patients in whom TB is suspected but tests have been negative.…”
