“…In the same sense, a prior study showed that plasma F 4 -NeuroPs were significantly increased in RTT (Rett syndrome) patients compared to controls [33]. Similarly, recent studies have reported that plasma levels of F 2 -Dihomo-IsoPs (ent-7(RS)-F 2t -Dihomo-IsoPs and 17-F 2t -Dihomo-IsoPs) in RTT patients in stage 1 (185.9768.9 pg/mL) were higher than in healthy controls (0.8-12 pg/mL), as measured by GC-NICI-MS [10,33,34]. Regarding other neurological diseases, in a study carried out in 1998, Roberts and colleagues detected F 4 -NeuroPs in normal human CSF of subjects with AD (Alzheimer's disease) and showed, by GC-NICI-MS, that the levels of these compounds were higher in these patients (110712 pg/mL) than in the control group (6478 pg/mL) [7].…”

“…However, the relative abundance in myelin of the precursor AdA and the increased level of F 2 -dihomo-IsoPs, strongly confirm an early and severe damage to the brain white matter as suggested by previous brain MRI evidence. Thus F 2 -dihomo-IsoPs can be considered early markers of lipid peroxidation in RTT (De Felice et al, 2011). RTT.…”

“…In particular, high Biochimica et Biophysica Acta 1852 (2015) 2066-2074 levels of IsoPs and HNE, which are major lipid peroxidation products generated from membrane lipids by free radical reactions, are strongly associated with the disease natural history, genotype-phenotype correlation, clinical heterogeneity and severity of the disease [5][6][7][8].…”
