“…The MR molecules can be also used for ferroelectric LC photoalignment [19][20][21]. The photoinduced optical anisotropy of photoalignment layer strongly effects the performance of LC devices [22]. The MR dye can be also used in composite LC materials with different nanoparticles [23,24].…”

“…Different concentrations of the azo dye methyl red (MR) significantly affect the dielectric properties of PDLC composites and make them suitable for the design of new devices based on PDLCs. , The TL 205-DG7052 red dye composition has a good CR (85.5:1) and a relatively low driving voltage; the optimum dye concentration of 0.007 wt% dispersed orange 25 was improved the PDLC characteristics to T sat = 99.38%, low response time, and minimized hysteresis loss . Azo dyes such as disperse orange 3 and disperse red 1 have been doped into the PDLCs, achieving a minimized transmittance in the OFF-state and an overall improvement in the CR of the device. Dye-doped PDLC films can set a foundation for decreasing the scattering effect and improving their absorbance, thus improving their electro-optical properties . A dichroic dye (DD)-doped polymer-stabilized optically isotropic chiral LC (named PSOICIC) film is fabricated, which is stable over a large temperature range, and by doping with a high birefringent DD, the electric-field-induced birefringence is increased and the Kerr effect is improved .…”
