Fabrication of CdTe@SiO2 nanoprobes for sensitive electrogenerated chemiluminescence detection of DNA damage

Abstract: Detection of DNA damage is significant for the evaluation of genotoxicity of new chemicals in the early stages of its development. An electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor was fabricated to detect specific sequences of DNA by using CdTe@SiO2 as nanoprobes for signal amplification. This DNA biosensor was constructed by self-assembly of an aminated capture DNA on the glass carbon electrode. DNA detection was realized by outputting a remarkable ECL signal of the CdTe@SiO2 labeled probe DNA. When the … Show more

“…16,17,44,45 Many biological methods, including Ames assay, comet assay, DNA fragmentation test, have been used for the evaluation of genotoxicity, 44,45 along with some novel approaches. [46][47][48] Flow cytometry analysis has also been used as a powerful tool for the detection of DNA damage in cells. [49][50][51] To investigate the possible DNA damage caused by GQDs, we monitored the expression levels of p53 and Rad 51 proteins in response to the GQD treatment by staining the cells with the respective fluorochromes, followed by flow cytometry analysis.…”

“…E-learning has the potential to foster or reinforce new training strategies around the learner, often designated as “a learner-centered pedagogy”: i.e., a pedagogy based on motivation, information, analysis, interaction and production [1]. On the other hand, specific attention should be given to the “importance of curriculum design for learning performance” [36].…”

“…The integration and the assimilation of ever changing knowledge, the management of an increasing number of learners and the gradual transition from a “traditional” model (i.e. ex cathedra lectures) to an “active” and “interactive” model where the learner is the main actor of his learning process [1,2]. In this perspective, the use of ICT, including Internet, represents a promising approach.…”
