“…According to previous publications, quality of life generally depends on clinical status, such that quality of life decreases with disease severity (19,20). We therefore conducted this study with the goal of establishing whether clinical status is linked to differences in quality of life in patients with colorectal or stomach cancer and to what extent certain items on the commonly used EORTC QLQ C30 scale can serve to distinguish levels of quality of life related to health.…”

“…The QoL assessment plays a key role in the evaluation and treatment of patients [10], especially it is seen as very important indicator of quality of care for cancer patients [11]. Most studies reporting QoL outcomes are based on trials [12,13], where inclusion and exclusion criteria limit external validity of results and does not exhibit "real life" differences among stage and treatment groups.…”

“…Although the awareness by physicians and patients has increased, there is still a paucity of objective data of QoL for cancer stages and available PCa treatment options, primarily due to the relative lack of large prospective studies. In general it is expected that the increase in early detection and treatment can result a better tolerance of the presently available therapeutic procedures and a higher QoL of PCa patients [18,11,[20][21][22][23][24][25].…”

“…Theoretically, the results of the QoL survey may be different for different periods because of the influence of several factors, including social, economic, weather/seasonal, and mass media. Factors affecting QoL scores might also include education level, monthly expenses for treatment, and disease stage (17). However, the large population-based cohort in this study may have confined this limitation.…”
