“…During the measurement of 2021, several drains had not functioned since 2018. Another explanation can be mentioned here but we cannot adopt it since it is out of the scope of this research, which is the non-homogeneity of the unconfined aquifer (phreatic aquifer) and its intercalation by clay lenses at a shallow depth that act as a substrate to support groundwater to rise [25]. Furthermore, the responsible purification plant for purifying the wastewater collected from the study area is suffering from different problems such as the breakdown of some pumps in different purification stages, especially in the Desander and this is mainly because of the high level of wastewater in the grit trap causes the two suction pumps to break down and the third insufficient, which creates considerable pressure on the plant and consequently reducing the required purified of the drained wastewater volumes.…”

“…Unfortunately, this project failed to combat its main objective due to several problems. However, Oued Souf was and still is an open book for various studies to understand the principal reasons for shallow groundwater upwelling and its forecasting trying to refer this phenomenon to the hydrogeological setting of the region or anthropogenic activities [22][23][24][25][26][27][28].…”
