“…The prevalence of BDV RNA in psychiatric (schizophrenic) patients (1.8%) was not significantly different from that of healthy volunteers (0.6%), both of which was less than those reported by other Japanese groups [Kishi et al, 1995;Kubo et al, 1997;Iwata et al, 1998]. Our results, however, agreed with reports that there was no association between BDV and psychiatric diseases in Japan and Korea [Haga et al, 1997;Kubo et al, 1997;Iwata et al, 1998;Kim et al, 1999]. It is not known why there were no PBMC samples that both p24 and p40 RNA were detected simultaneously.…”
