Apart from the civil war that was pronounced, Nigeria has never had it so bad in terms of insecurity and violence. In searching for a solution to this wedge to our national development, all factors, including family life of Nigerians became subject of examination. In pursuit of this, the researchers studied Awka resident’s perception of social media representation of family values in the era of insecurity in Nigeria. The study was anchored on social learning and agenda setting theory. Employing a survey research method, a sample size of 399 was arrived at. Questionnaire was also used as an instrument for data collection. From the data analysed, the researchers found that a greater percentage of Awka residents use social media. That they perceive social media representation of family values as negative. Concluding, the researchers observed that despite the positive roles of social media, that it also serves as an “evangelization ground” for new converts into violence and criminality which culminates in insecurity. The researchers recommended that efforts should be made to promote virtuous contents on social media. Also, that the family institution should intensify the inculcation of family values on their children who will grow to become responsible members of the larger society.

Communities, being vital to human existence, provide members with a sense of identity and purpose. The physical environment of these communities plays a critical role in shaping this sense of belonging, warranting further investigation into this relationship. Despite some research indicating that the built environment influences the local community feeling, the specific aspects and their degree of influence remain largely unknown. This study aims to identify which physical features exert the most impact, and what factors need to be currently addressed. This study conducts a thematic analysis to explore how the built environment of a neighbourhood affects community sentiment, focusing on articles published between 2017 and 2023. The research materials were sourced from the SCOPUS and Web of Science databases based on specific inclusion criteria, with keyword searches yielding 37 peer-reviewed articles. Following a thorough inclusion and exclusion procedure, the final selection of 25 papers was compiled for assessment. Upon conducting a thematic analysis of the 25 selected papers, a total of seventeen physical elements were initially identified. However, so far, only eleven out of these seventeen physical parameters put forth by Kim & Kaplan have been used. These include clubhouses or recreation amenities, population density, the distance between sidewalks and residences, the diversity in types of housing, the overall street layout, lakes, greenways, street trees, landscaping, architectural style, the overall design quality of the residences, and block size. Moreover, it was found that aspects of the neighbourhood are associated with physical activity, satisfaction with the community, a sense of belonging, and the perception of one's position within the neighbourhood. Factors of urban landscape directly impact community contentment, sense of belonging, and perceived quality of life. Physical attributes correlate with levels of physical activity and the sense of community, while aspects of planning and policy are associated with community identity, belonging, and architectural aestheticsinfluencing the sense of community. The codes presented in this paper elucidate the relationship between a neighbourhood’s-built environment and the sense of community it fosters. The research contributes by examining this category and its variables, pinpointing specific themes within related topics across various publications. This analysis will offer valuable insights for future studies, particularly those focusing on communities within Malaysia.

Household Spending, Social Media Addiction, and Its Impact on Muslim Family Ties

Few are aware that spending more time on social media within the home and allocating domestic work can disrupt the household's economic equilibrium. Currently, the modern way of life has eroded the values of Muslim homes. On the basis of Islamic values, Muslim household ties reflect an attitude that balances the satisfaction of needs with the allocation of time for domestic work. This study examines the relationship between the household's social media addiction, household spending, and its impact on family ties in the West Sumatra Province of Indonesia. This study employs a relational survey model and quota sampling to collect data from 250 households in the ten cities/districts of West Sumatra Province with the most significant internet usage in 2020. Various statistical analysis methods, including descriptive statistics and moderating regression analysis using ordinary least squares (OLS), are utilized for modeling throughout the entire study. The empirical findings indicate that household spending has a significant negative impact on family ties, with a coefficient of 2.00, and that social media addiction among both parents and adolescents has a relatively significant negative impact on family ties, with coefficients of 0.0011 and 0.0082, respectively. In addition, this phenomenon has not occurred across all categories of household spending, nor has marital status moderated the relationship between household spending, social media addiction, and family ties. At the same time, adolescents from divorced homes are susceptible to social media addiction.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK – Pengeluaran Rumah Tangga, Kecanduan Media Sosial, dan Dampaknya terhadap Ikatan Keluarga Muslim. Tidak banyak yang menyadari bahwa menghabiskan lebih banyak waktu dengan media sosial di dalam rumah tangga dan mengalokasikan pekerjaan rumah tangga dapat mempengaruhi keseimbangan umum dalam ekonomi rumah tangga. Gaya hidup modern saat ini telah mengikis nilai-nilai rumah tangga Muslim. Ikatan rumah tangga Muslim merupakan sikap harmonisasi pemenuhan kebutuhan dan alokasi waktu pekerjaan rumah tangga berdasarkan landasan nilai-nilai Islam. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi fenomena kausal kecanduan media sosial rumah tangga, pengeluaran rumah tangga, dan dampaknya terhadap ikatan keluarga di Provinsi Sumatera Barat, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan model survei relasional, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel kuota 250 rumah tangga, dari sepuluh wilayah Kota/Kabupaten di Provinsi Sumatera Barat, dengan penggunaan internet paling tinggi pada tahun 2020. Berbagai metode analisis statistik digunakan, antara lain statistik deskriptif dan analisis regresi moderasi Ordinary Least Square (OLS), untuk pemodelan selama penelitian. Temuan empiris menunjukkan bahwa pengeluaran rumah tangga berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap ikatan keluarga, koefisien= 2,00, dan kecanduan media sosial antara orang tua dan remaja memiliki pengaruh negatif signifikan relatif 0,0011 dan 0,0082 terhadap ikatan keluarga. Selain itu, fenomena ini belum terjadi pada semua kategori pengeluaran rumah tangga, dan status perkawinan belum memoderasi pengeluaran rumah tangga dan interaksi kecanduan media sosial pada ikatan keluarga. Pada saat yang sama, remaja di rumah tangga yang bercerai rentan terhadap paparan kecanduan media sosial.
